FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Other than the quoted price from your website, what other costs will I have?
Everything for the RV rental is included in the Quote. You will only need to pay the $1000 security deposit along with the balance due at the Rental Center when you complete the rental documents. Of course, you will need money or credit cards for personal food, drink, camp sites, most National/State parks, fuel, propane, and other activities you plan.
How old are your RV’s?
They are all new 2011 RV's and in top condition! We use the Coachmen products because of better gas mileage, quality workmanship, the layout is most popular and useful, and plenty of storage so that you can take your suitcases/luggage and store all your options.
What deposits are required?
A $500 deposit is required to hold the reservation while you discuss and plan your trip. At least 30 days before your pick-up date, you may cancel and receive a full refund. Your balance in-full must be paid prior to departing at the Rental Center on your pick-up date.
When you arrive at the office the balance due will be paid by credit card (AMEX, Discover, VISA, Mastercard), cash USD, or Travelers Checks. The $1000 Security Deposit will be paid by us taking an imprint of your credit card and placing a "hold" for the amount. This deposit is fully refunded at your return, provided there is no damage, tanks are filled, sewer tanks emptied and the RV is cleaned (unless you purchased the Interior Cleaning Package). We simply give you the imprint for you to destroy and release the hold.
How and when do I pay for the reservation?
You can pay the deposit to hold at the time of the quote or anytime as long as there is availability. The deposit to hold is applied to the total charges leaving a balance due. The balance is due at the Rental Center when you pick-up the motorhome.
The balance due shall be paid by credit card (AMEX, Discover, VISA, Mastercard) cash (USD) or USD travelers checks. No personal or business checks unless pre-approved by management, prepaid and cleared our bank prior to the pick-up date.
How do I get to the rental location?
You call us 24 hours of your pick-up date and we set a pick-up appointment time and you take a taxi to our rental office. We reimburse the taxi ride to you when you supply us with the receipt. You will also receive an equal amount of the receipt for your return ride. We reimburse for rides from the airport and strip or downtown hotels only. If you have a car, you may park it at our office. We are NOT responsible for you car or it contents!

When can I pick-up the RV?
Within 24 hours of your pick-up date you must call the office to obtain a check-in time, usually 11am to 4pm. Afterwards you may load your possessions and enjoy your vacation!

Are there baby or car seats for children?
You are expected to bring a child restraint seat for each person under 6 years of age. It’s the law!
Will someone instruct me how to operate the RV?
We will spend at least 45 minutes at the orientation going over every detail of the RV and how each feature works, how to maintain, and what to do incase of, how to dump the holding tanks, fill water, and connect to power. How to re-fuel, check oil, coolant and tire pressure. What is expected by you if you are doing the return cleaning? What to do incase of an accident. You will also have an Operations Manual (in a language you can understand) that will cover all of the items discussed at the orientation as well as emergency phone numbers.
Where can we take the RV?
Anywhere there is a paved well maintained public road with height and side clearance to drive without damaging the RV.
Exceptions; dirt and gravel roads, Death Valley from June 15 to September 15 (due to engine over-heating in the extreme heat); snow or ice covered roadways;
During extremely heavy thunderstorms, we suggest finding a safe area to pull off the roadway and wait 5 to 10 minutes for the storm to pass. Visibility can be greatly reduced during these brief mountain downpours and on two lane winding roads, it can be very dangerous!
Where can I find the best places to see and visit?
We have supplied links to travel sites in on the left side of our "home page" and under "Renters Resources". We suggest you take time to investigate these websites and compile a list of places of interest. Map them out and get a general tour plan in mind before arriving. Remember to take advantage of some of the activities like river rafting, tubing, horseback riding, and guided hiking tours. Some of these activities will require a reservation and deposit weeks in advance so check with the adventure company so you don’t miss out!
Is there river rafting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, ATV rentals and other activities?
Again check-out our links page "Renters Resources". There are many adventure sports websites for you to visit. Remember, most will be booked in advance so check with the adventure company and make a reservation so that you don’t miss the fun.
Fishing areas are everywhere. You will need a fishing license for the state that you will be fishing. You can purchase a license for around $20 for 1 to 3 days. Bait stores and mountain grocery stores usually sell licenses and have free information on where to fish and what to use. Ask around!
Where are the best campgrounds?
We have compiled a list on the links page "Renters Resources". Look for AAA, KOA, Good Sam or other approval logos. For full hook-ups (power, water and sewer), prices run from $15-$40 per night. A good park will have clean showers, restrooms, and laundry facilities. There are also State and National campgrounds that are less expensive, but usually have less amenities like showers and laundry services and hook-ups.
Do I need a pass or ticket to get into the
You must pay to travel into or through many of the parks. If you plan on visiting 2 or more, we suggest purchasing a “Golden Eagle Pass” at your first park entrance. It is $50 for your entire trip as opposed to $10-$25 at each park entry. Look at our links pages to find out more.
Can I camp anywhere?
Yes and No. You have everything you need to camp anywhere, but in some places camping is not allowed. Camping on the side of roadways or off-road are unlawful or not permitted. State and National parks allow over night camping in designated camp areas only. You may stay overnight at designated road-side rest areas and truck stops, but be careful in these areas! Campsites and private campgrounds are safer and suggested. Look in our "Renters Resources" for suggestions.
What about the sewer and holding tanks, where and when do I empty them?
Most campgrounds (not government) have sewer dump stations and some truck stops have a pay station. When planning your trip look in our "Renters Resources" for “Dump Stations” and schedule one for every 3 days if you use water sparingly, and if 4 people shower in the RV daily, use the sinks and toilet, dumping may be every other day. If you are at a campground and are connected to the sewer with the valve open, you have no problems and your tank should be empty on departure. Check the RV holding tank gauge daily and plan accordingly. When the tank is full you cannot use the toilet or water!
Where do I buy groceries and other supplies for our trip?
Your first stop should be a large market or Walmart Superstore. You should stock-up on paper plates and cups, paper towels, toilet paper (for septic), water, drinks, food, cooking oil, and don’t forget some wine or beer and ice. As a reminder, you may also need food seasonings; foil, plastic baggies and trash bags, bug spray/repellent and sun-block. We will provide you with a map and suggestions of where to stop before you depart from the Rental Center.
Can I tow a trailer?
Yes, if we have inspected the trailer and you have paid for the receiver. You cannot use your own receiver and not pay the fee. The payment is not just for the receiver, but the added ware and tear on the vehicle and engine.
What kind of fuel does it use, how much does use and does it cost?
Use Hi-octane of 90+ gasoline only. In the hi-altitude mountain areas the vehicle needs power to go up steep grades and the regular fuel may make the engine sputter or “knock”. The gas mileage will be 8-10 mpg on flat roads and 7-8 in hill country. The gas mileage greatly depends on how you drive and conserve! Fuel in the
Can I drink the water in the motor home?
The water in the tank can become stagnate; it is not suggested for consumption. Bottled water is the safest water. You can re-fill water bottles at campgrounds and approved sources. Some of that water is spring water. Do not drink from Non-Potable water sources.
How does the GPS Navigation device work?
They are FREE in all of our RVs! It is EZ to use after you get the hang of it! They are up-to-date, preloaded in different languages and are audible as well as have a clear e-z to read display. Never miss a turn or a place of interest and an excellent feature in all of our motor homes! The instructions are in your Operations Book.
When do I have to bring the RV back?
On your return/drop-off date between 8am and 11am. It is best to dump your holding tanks in the morning at your last campsite and remove your garbage. And if you elected to do the housekeeping, this would be a good time to scrub everything down. Remember; do not to use the water or toilets unless you plan on dumping again. If you would rather wait until you return to
Remember, someone is most likely waiting for you to return and us to check you in. In addition, we have to clean and sanitize the unit, wash the exterior, and conduct safety/maintenance services so that they can start their vacation. BE COURTEOUS AND RETURN ON TIME!
From time to time and in non-peak seasons we may not require the RV to be returned as scheduled. If additional time or a late return is desired, call the office in-advance for availability and permission. The regular daily rate will be charged.
What do I have to do before I bring it back?
The RV must be returned full of fuel and propane! If not, you will be charged $5.00 per gallon. Bring your receipt for proof that the gasoline was topped off in
The holding tank valves are to be open with the caps removed to show they are empty. If not open and removed, you will be asked to do so and that can be very messy for you if they are not completely empty! If the tanks are not empty, a $75 dump surcharge will be assessed.
The RV is considered dropped-off when it is returned clean (unless you pre-paid for cleaning, just broom swept, trash removed) full of fuel and propane, the holding tanks empty with caps off, your personal possessions removed and you are ready to conduct a final walk-through. If you have to leave to do any of the above, it is not considered returned and a late return fee or fill/dump/cleaning fee will be charged.
If you are not back and ready for us by 11am, you may be charged for an additional hour. If not returned after 12 noon the additional hourly rate applies, plus a $250 surcharge will be assessed.
See the Operations Book for details on cleaning.
What happens when we check-in on our return?
After you have unloaded your possessions, you along with our service technician will go over the exterior and interior as thoroughly as when you received the RV. We check for physical damage, operation of all systems; fuel, propane and oil levels; and cleanliness (if you are cleaning). Upon completion, we finish the return paperwork, settle remaining charges and refund your applicable security deposit. This process will take 45 to 60 minutes so plan accordingly!
What if we are late getting back?
First call early and let us know if you think you will be late! We may be able to contact the next traveler to inform them so they are not waiting for you. We may have to offer compensation to them as you would understand if your vacation was delayed so hourly and late return surcharges will apply. However, we may not have the unit re-rented for that afternoon, we will offer you the opportunity to return late or the next day at the daily rate. Breakdown excuses are not acceptable unless you informed us of the problem and service was performed with proof of same supplied.
What happens to unused miles I purchased or if I go over my miles?
We’re sorry, but un-used miles are not refundable. The mile packages are offered at a reasonable rate, which is a savings over the regular mileage rate of .39 cents. In most every case, with decent trip planning most miles will be used. After you average your miles with what is leftover, the rate is below the regular rate or other companies rates.
In most cases, travelers take additional side trips and vary from their planned trip thereby going over their pre-purchased miles, which results in paying additional mileage at the regular rate.
When do I get my deposit back?
After we conduct the walk-through and settle all charges; the credit card authorization imprinted slip, traveler checks or cash is returned to you on the spot!
If you were in an accident, we may hold the funds until a determination can be made. Any refund will then be through your credit card or the postal system as soon as possible.
How do I get back to the hotel or airport?
If you need transportation we will call you a taxi and we pay them to take you to a strip or downtown hotel/motel of your choosing, or to the
What happens if I get into an accident?
Call the toll-free number as soon as possible. Report the incident to us and complete the “Accident Report Form” found inside your Operations Book. A report must be obtained from the officer as well as any witnesses. Pictures of the damage and area will be very helpful. You must co-operate with the officer and our staff at all times. If the motor home is severely damaged and cannot be driven, it must be towed to the nearest facility. We will do everything possible to get you another RV if you wish to continue your vacation. If you are in an accident read the Operations Book for more information on what to do. In any case, we hope there are no injuries and the damage is minor so that you may resume your trip. This is why you purchased insurance and the motor home can be repaired. Accidents do happen!
What happens if we are vandalized?
Vandalism is a rare occurrence in most camp areas. Be sure you take the precautions and lock windows, doors, storage areas and bicycles. Camp chairs, tables and BBQs are usually safe left out in campgrounds, but are your responsibility. You are responsible for stolen items so you determine the risk you wish to take! Keep valuables out of sight!
What happens if we have a breakdown or other mechanical failure?
All of our RV’s are newer; however a brand new car or motor home can have a mechanical failure. We conduct regular maintenance before every RV rolls out of our rental center, but still issues can arise.
We provide you with a toll free travelers assistance number. We will send you to the nearest service center or in some cases send a repairman to you. If a minor issue should occur, you may pay up to $100 and with a receipt, we will reimburse you when you return. See the Operations Book for more information.
What happens if I have to cancel my reservation?
Cancellations are unfortunate for you and us. You are not going on a great vacation and we will have to hopefully re-rent the RV. A cancellation fee may apply (see below).
If cancellation is; over 30 days of departure, a full refund is made.
If cancellation is; 8 to 30 days, a $100 fee is required with all other funds are returned to you.
If cancellation is; 24 hours to 7 days, a $300 fee is required and all other funds are returned to you.
If cancellation is; less than 24 hours or a “no show”, no refund applies.
